About Us

Latur is a well-known business city. Before 50 years, very few schools were available to provide education in Latur. Educational facility after matriculation was not available. The students had to go to Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Aurangabad for higher education. Only the students from rich family were able to seek such education out of Latur. The visionary and education loving people from Latur decided to start higher education institutions.

Manjara Charitable Trust, Latur was established in 1988 under the guidance of Late Hon. Shri. Vilasraoji Dagdojirao Deshmukh, Ex Chief Minister of Maharashtra State. Thinking about the problem of higher education of girl students of economically and socially backward students from rural area, the Trust started Smt. Sushiladevi Dehmukh Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Latur – 413 531 (M.S.) in June 1990. The Trustees look after the day to day functioning of various sister institutions. “Gnyan, Charitrya, Deshprem Sanvardhanasathi Shikshan” is the motto of Manjara Charitable Trust. With this motto, the institution started the Primary level to Higher Level Education in rural and urban area of Maharashtra. The Manjra Charitable Trust has sponsored many educational institutions in the range of Marathwada at the beginning and now it is spreading up all over the State of Maharashtra. The number of educational institutions from K.G. to Graduate / Post Graduate degrees have been started to impart education in the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce Education, Engineering, Medical, Agriculture, etc. The main object of the Trust is to eradicate the backwardness in the field of education and prepare the youngsters to accept the new challenges of the hours. Formerly, this Trust tried to cover the area of Marathwada and then paved the way to the area of Navi Mumbai. This Trust is entrusted to open new Educational Institutions in different part of the State. Manjra Charitable Trust undertook the new programme in June 1990 and started Smt. Sushiladevi Deshmukh Mahila Mahavidyalaya at Latur in this backward area.
